Women & Men's skincare: Best tips for a clean and soft shave

Best tips for a clean and soft shave

The process of shaving can be a daunting task for many people, but with the right products and techniques, it can become a refreshing and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips to help you achieve a smooth and comfortable shave - whether it's your face or body:

Step 1: Cleanse and Exfoliate

Begin by cleaning your face with a gentle facial cleanser like our vegan and gentle soap bar with activated charcoal. This mild soap tea tree essential oil to reduce redness and inflammation, with the charcoal removing any dirt or impurities.

For a closer shave, exfoliate your face using a face and body scrub - our soap bars also have apricot powder or poppy seeds, which are natural exfoliators. This scrub bar is also infused with shea butter and glycerin so your skin stays hydrated and nourished.

Step 2: Open Pores and Soften Stubble

User a toner on a warm cloth or flannel to open up the skin and soften the hair follicles. Place the wet flannel over your face to help soften each hair and prepare the skin for shaving.

This step helps to open the pores and make the stubble easier to shave.

Step 3: Apply Shaving Cream

Apply your favourite shaving cream - this can be from the store or a natural alternative. Apply it upward using circular motions, going against the grain of your stubble, to boost circulation and lift the hairs further. Use a sharp blade and following the contours of your face. Rinse your razor after each stroke to avoid build-up and keep the blade sharp.

Step 4: Close Pores

After shaving, apply a cool, wet flannel to your face to calm the skin and close your pores. A spritz of toner may also help to ease any post-shave discomfort. A toner infused with lavender or rose water will help reduce redness and inflammation.

Step 5: Moisturise and Protect

Apply a moisturiser to protect and hydrate your skin after shaving. It can either be a water-based cream for those with oily skin types, or a thick and creamy moisturiser to act as a protective barrier.
